The fruit-picking apparatus in question is mechanically or manually pushed close to the tree trunk. Approaching the tree, it opens and closes as an umbrella to rigidly enclose the trunk in its centre. The sack placed at the opening of a fluted ring is liable to be tightened with a string; afterwards, the tractor with the electric umbrella hanging from the hydraulic arm gets nearer to the tree and the electric implement, which is designed to beat the tree in a horizontal and vertical "combing" manner, is brought into service by the tractor's operator. The fruit fall into the apparatus and therefrom into the sack. The duration of the whole collection process is limited to a maximum of 2 minutes per tree. |
