A porous component of the mold, participates in forming the molding and releases gas. It releases no plastic, and causes minimal surface defects. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method of molding, in which gases are allowed to escape and the surface is degasified to a finish with minimal defects. Preferred features: Porous section (12, 14) dimensions, and their matching with the mold (11, 13), result in a clean, degasified surface on the molding. A porous sintered material is used. A porous part may slide in a mold half; it may be an ejection pin (28) or a core rod (30). In a similar variant, the porous material forms the entire molding cavity. The porous material in metal or ceramic, can form part of, or the entire molding cavity.
