A dental molding unit for the production of diverse dental moldings comprises a carrier holder and pivot on hinge pin, with frangible base readily split without fragmentation. An Independent claim is included for the process of making tooth models, tooth fillings and/or tooth replacements, using the equipment as described. This is essentially a process of molding, employing the equipment as a molding and model (or pattern) holding, adjustment and adaptation unit. Preferred features: Ends opposite the pin, hinge together. A detachable, manually-operated screw fastener or other locking device (5) holds upper and/or lower tooth models together e.g. by means of screw threads provided in carrier and/or holder. The fastener has a tapered tip (assisting thread entry and engagement). The lower arm is bent through a right angle and carries a base (22) and rectangular recess with bore(s) at the end. A tooth model carrier is attached to carrier and/or holder. The device is further finely-detailed. The base can be broken, cut and/or is brittle. With structured breaking points, it separates largely without fragments.
