The grinding block has several longitudinal elements made of grinding material in which are longitudinal grooves. Each element has a top side curved along an arch shared by the top side of another element so as to produce a curved shape matching the curved workpiece being ground. Each element is separate from the others but is fixed into a recess in a common base. The width of the recess equals, or is greater than, that of each element. Fluid can flow through the base ad into the lengthwise grooves.
