PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably form an image extending over a long term. SOLUTION: A developer carrier 2 constituted so that an elastic layer 4 is covered with a conductive layer 5 is used as the component of this developing device. An intermediate layer 101 is disposed between the layers 4 and 5 and the respective volume resistivity thereof are set so as to establish the relation of the layer 5 > the layer 4 > the layer 101 and so as to satisfy the relation of the layer 5 < the layer 4 < the layer 101. By providing the developer carrier constituting the developing device with at least the layer 4, covering the outside circumferential surface of the layer 4 with a tube and disposing the layer (resistance adjustment layer) 101 between the layer 4 and the tube, developing bias can be uniformly applied without being affected by the partial variance of the resistance of the layer 4. Thus, the image without density irregularity can be formed. Besides, since the developing bias is prevented from being leaked to a latent image carrier, the high-density image without the density irregularity can be formed. Thus, the high-quality image can be stably developed extending over a long term. |
