The present invention discloses a casket (10) having a customized design (11) on its external surface (30), and a method for decorating the external surface (30) of a casket (10) to produce such a custom designed surface. In the method of this invention, a substrate material (29) is cut into panels that have shapes that correspond to the sections of the casket surface sections. A custom design (11) is digitally imaged onto the substrate panels. Each panel contains a portion of the overall design. The interior side of each substrate panel is provided with an adhesive material (31, 32) to affix the panels to the casket surface (30). These substrate panels exhibiting portions of the overall design are applied sectionally to the casket surface (30) in a manner to provide a seamless image, thereby creating an external casket surface (30) having a custom appearance. |
