The housing (2) for an exhaust silencer, in an internal combustion motor, is composed of two shell parts (3,4) with the joint at a common flange plane (12). The intermediate wall is supported at the base of the housing shells (3,4) and inserted to form two housing zones with a fluid link between them for the exhaust gas overflow. The damper is an exhaust gas spray, with a zone within the intermediate wall enclosed by a perforated wall section and the intermediate wall. The free edges of the perforated wall section define the entry cross section into the spray, in the covering with the entry opening into the silencer housing (2).
