<p>Compounds represented by general formula (I), salts thereof and peroxisome-proliferating drug activation receptor regulating agents containing the same as the active ingredient. In said formula each symbol is as defined in the specification. Because of having an activity of regulating peroxisome proliferating drug activation receptor, the compounds of general formula (I) are useful as hypoglycemic agents, lipid-lowering agents, preventives and/or remedies for diseases in association with metabolic error (diabetes, obesity, syndrome X, hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipoproteinemia, etc.), hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, circulatory diseases, overeating, ischemic heart diseases, etc., HDL-cholesterol-elevating agents, LDL cholesterol- and/or VLDL cholesterol-lowering agents, and risk factor relieving agents for diabetes and syndrome X.</p> |
