Phosgene with a tetrachlorocarbon (TCC) content of less than 150 ppm. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of low-TCC phosgene by reacting carbon monoxide with chlorine in presence of elementary carbon, in which the stream of gas from the reactor is at a temperature of 30-80 deg C and a pressure of 120-400 kPa (abs), measured immediately after the phosgene generator.
