A bearing substance (15) is applied to the bearing surface (2) of a bearing component (1), especially a bearing in a turbomachine, by means of a laser beam (23). This improves the bearing substance's (15) ability to adhere to the bearing component (1) and therefore increases the service life of said bearing component (1).
