The rest current reduction device uses a switching relay (8) or an electronic power switch for disconnecting the transformer (2) of the electrical device (1) in its rest condition, the switching relay or electronic power switch responding to operation of a push-button of the electrical device, e.g. a doorbell button, for re-connecting the transformer.
