Hollow articles such as chocolate eggs or other shapes are formed in a pair of moulds 10, 11, which are brought together after charging with product C, with a gasket 13 located between the moulds. After the moulds are lined with the product they are separated and the gasket removed. The product is then heated and softened so that as the moulds are brought together again it causes product in the moulds to join to form the complete article. The gasket member is shaped adjacent the edges of the mould to provide a non-planar portion extending around the edge of at least one of the moulds. The non-planar portion may be stepped as shown, or may alternatively be in the form of a groove (20, figure 6). Items such as toys may be located in the article before the product in the moulds are joined together. |
