The current collector has a carrier (12) and a carbon loop part or strip (10) connected to it via an adhesive layer. An electrical contact between the carbon loop part and the carrier is achieved with at least one conducting coating formed by galvanic copper deposition or copper spraying or an electrical contact tape. A foil (26) of a good electrical conductor runs along the outer surface of the material coating (18,20) facing the loop part or the carrier. An Independent claim is also included a method of connecting a carbon loop part to a carrier using an electrically conducting contact running between them.
