PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To render organic chlorine compound-containing solid matter such as firebrick that has been used in an incinerator to harmless so that it can be dumped into the natural environment and also to reduce the treated quantity thereof. SOLUTION: This is a treating method for rendering organic chlorine compound-containing solid matter harmless. It is provided with a pulverizing process in which the solid matter is pulverized into powder, an extraction process in which the powder is put in an extraction tank after the pulverizing process and also organic solvent is added to the powder in the extraction tank, a solid-liquid separation process in which the powder to which the solvent has been added is separated into a solid content and a liquid content, a water addition process in which water is added to the powder or the liquid content in the pulverizing process, the extraction process, or the solid-liquid separation process, and a hydrothermal reaction treating process in which sodium hydroxide is added to the liquid content after the solid-liquid separation process to make it in a high temperature and pressure state, causing hydrothermal reaction to decompose the organic chloride compounds. |
