PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent dimensional stability and mechanical strength and to enhance productivity by kneading a foamable resin composition consisting of a liquid crystal resin, a thermoplastic resin having a melting temperature not higher than a transition point of the liquid crystal resin and a foaming agent at a temperature not lower than the transition temperature of the liquid crystal resin, shaping the composition while foaming it, and continuously extrusion molding the composition. SOLUTION: A foamable resin composition consisting of a liquid crystal resin, a thermoplastic resin having a melting temperature not higher than a transition temperature of the liquid crystal resin and a foaming agent is kneaded at a temperature not lower than the transition temperature of the liquid crystal resin, then shaped while foaming the composition in a cooling mold and a foam is then continuously extrusion molded. As the agent, a thermal decomposition type foaming agent is preferably used. As the thermoplastic resin, an olefin resin, a polystyrene or their copolymer having suitable compatibility with the liquid crystal resin is preferably used, and its melt index is preferably 0.1 to 20 g/10 min. As the liquid crystal resin, a thermoplastic liquid crystal polyester or a thermoplastic polyesteramide is preferably used. 0.5 to 50 pts.wt. is preferable to 100 pts.wt. of the thermoplastic resin. |
