摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas oil composition that reduces the emission of particulates included in a diesel engine exhaust gas in the range of the full load operation of the engine by incorporating a cetane number improver into the composition and specifying a content of the cetane number improver, and specifying a cetane index, a distillation temperature, an aromatic content, a sulfur content and a kinematic viscosity of the composition. SOLUTION: This gas oil composition contains not less than 500 ppm, based on the total amount of the composition, of a cetane number improver and has a cetane index of not less than 45, a 90% distillation temperature of 280-315 deg.C, a 70% distillation temperature, of 220-270 deg.C, a 30% distillation temperature of 175-230 deg.C, an aromatic content of not more than 26.3 vol.%, a sulfur content of not more than 500 weight ppm, a kinematic viscosity at 30 deg.C of not less than 1.7 mm2/s. It is preferable that the composition has an end point of 330-360 deg.C, a pour point of not more than -50 deg.C and a clogging point of not more than -1 deg.C. As a cetane number improver, a nitrate ester (e.g. 2- ethoxyethyl nitrate), an organic peroxide or the like can be used.
