PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive composition which has a high adhesiveness and heat resistance and allows little reduction or change in the adhesive strength with time, and a high solid solvent type adhesive which has a high adhesiveness and heat resistance and copes with environmental issues, energy conservation and line speed-up. SOLUTION: This adhesive composition contains a polyvalent mercaptan part and a thermoplastic addition polymer having a first polymer part and a second polymer part which radiate from the polyvalent mercaptan part. The first polymer part comprises a high-glass transition point type polymer having a glass transition point of 273 K or higher, and the second polymer part comprises a low-glass transition point type polymer having a glass transition point of lower than 273 K. The adhesive composition may be a high solid solvent type adhesive which further contains an organic solvent wherein a thermoplastic addition polymer is dissolved and/or dispersed, has a non-volatile component concentration of from 60 to 80 wt.% and has a viscosity at 25 deg.C of 20,000 cps or lower.
