PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent stuffing of excessive used masters in a released plate box. SOLUTION: A released plate recovery device is used for recovering used masters used for printing. In that case, the device is provided with a released plate box 10 storing used masters M, a compression plate 14 compressing the used master stored in the released plate box 10, compression plate deforming means 31, 32, 33 and 34 deforming the compression plate in the release box while applying the given compression force to the compression plate and a control means 30 controlling the operation of the compression plate 14 by the compression plate deforming means. The operation of the compression plate 14 is controlled in compliance with the detail information of used masters in the released plate box 10 so that the excessive used masters are not stuffed in the release box 10.
