PURPOSE: A system and method for monitoring an industrial process and industrial data source is provided to evaluate of process data, on line or off-line, from sensors or data accumulation sources. Also, the system performs preliminary analysis of data for alarm conditions prior to data input. CONSTITUTION: A system for monitoring an industrial process(10) generates time varyingdata from industrial data sources, and processes the data so that time correlation of the data is obtained. Also, the system determines the range of data and learned states of normal operation, and then these states are used to generate expected values. After detecting a deviation from normalcy, an alarm(50) is generated.
