PURPOSE: A volume variation measurement method of viscous liquid layer is provided to determine a volume variation of a viscous liquid in a physical or chemical reaction. CONSTITUTION: A volume variation measurement method confines a viscous liquid layer on some part of a first rigid body. The viscous liquid layer(101) has even upper surface about the first rigid body. The method measures a thickness of viscous liquid layer. The viscous liquid layer is then partially reacted. A volume variation of the reacted layer is determined as a function of a measurement value of a volume variation of the viscous liquid layer. The first rigid body has a storage part having a side wall and bottom, and has a flat surface. The viscous liquid layer is confined between the flat surface and the second rigid body. The viscous liquid is confined by using adhesive agent. Thereby, a volume variation of the viscous liquid is constantly obtained in a physical or chemical reaction.
