PURPOSE: A black box apparatus for detecting the breakdown of car and detecting method thereof is provided to detect the breakdown of a car and scientifically analyzes the detected the breakdown cause by sensing breakdown according to a trigger condition and recording an input condition and an output condition of an ECU. CONSTITUTION: A CPU(10) outputs a control signal. A power supply device(20) supplies a power to a car. A data transmitting and receiving unit(30) transmits and receives data with an analyzing system. A data storing unit(40) stores a collected data. A sensing unit(50) converts each physical input into an electric signal. A trigger sensing unit(60) senses a trigger according to an ECU(90). An A/D converter(70) converts an analog voltage into a digital value. A first connecting cable(80) is connected to the ECU(90). A second connecting cable(81) is connected to a harness axis(91).
