PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small article made of a colored hard metal and its manufacturing method in which metallic small articles such as pachinko balls and various medals can be colored to an arbitrary color, the surface hardness is increased and its wear resistance is improved. SOLUTION: Since a small article 11 made of a hard metal is manufactured by pouring at least one kind of a reactive gas among oxygen gas, nitrogen gas and acetylene gas into a vacuum vessel 10 through a gas introducing port 16 and making it react with evaporated and ionized titanium to form a ceramic coating on the surface of the metallic article 11, many kinds of metallic small articles made of the hard metal having the surface of various colors and sufficient wear resistance can be manufactured by combining the oxygen gas, the nitrogen gas and the acetylene gas.
