PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device ornament pad having a partially metallic bright part and being excellent in design with various colors while ensuring safety and good productivity. SOLUTION: A flexible ornament member 2 having a partially raised mark portion is fabricated by molding of a thermoplastic resin. A metal sheet layer 31 is formed over the entire surface of one side of the ornament member 2 and an upper coat masking the mark portion 30 and an edging portion 301 is applied thereto to form a colored paint layer 32. The ornament member 2 is incorporated in a mold and an airbag device ornament pad in which the ornament member 2 and a pad member 1 are firmly joined together is fabricated by insert molding of the same kind of thermoplastic resin as the ornament member 2. Because of employment of insert molding, the ornament pad can be fabricated readily at low cost, and since the ornament member 2 and the pad member 1 are molded from the same kind of thermoplastic resin, a junction layer 5 where they are compatible with each other is formed at their boundary whereby even during airbag actuation, scattering of the ornament member from the pad member is avoided for safety. |
