PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-theft device preventing an engine from becoming unable to restart because of an error in determining whether or not a key is appropriate. SOLUTION: This anti-theft device for a vehicle, which is mounted in a vehicle intermittently operating an engine, and which prevents theft of the vehicle while having key appropriateness determination means S14, S16 for determining whether or not the operation of the engine is permitted by determining whether or not the use of the vehicle by means of a key is appropriate at the start of the engine, has a guessing means S12 for guessing whether or not the running action of the vehicle is being continued and a stop means S12 for stopping the operation of the key appropriateness determination means when the guessing means guesses that the running action of the vehicle is being continued. Therefore, it is unnecessary to determine whether or not the key is appropriate is avoided and the engine can be prevented from becoming unable to restart because of an error in determining whether or not the key is appropriate. |
