PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the metal penetration into a gap between the end surface of a drum and a side weir by pushing the side weir to the drum in a twin drum type continuous casting method and casting while giving the vibration in the upper and lower direction of the casting direction to the side weir in the vertical plane to the drum axis. SOLUTION: Molten metal is supplied into a molten metal pool part formed with the faced one pair of cooling drums 1a (1b) and the side weirs 2a (2b), and cast while cooling and solidifying with the cooling drums. Then, the molten metal is cast while giving the vibration in the upper and lower direction of the casting direction to the side weirs 2a (2b) in the vertical plane to the roll axes by pushing the side weirs 2a (2b) to the cooling drums 1a (1b) with pushing devices 17. The up and down vibration is given to the side weir 2a freely slidable to the cooling drum 1a with a vibrating shaft 18 at the lower part of a vibrating plate 13. It is desirable to be >=3.9 m/s2 max. acceleration of the vibration in the vertical direction, 5-100 Hz frequency and 0.5-10 mm amplitude.
