PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a safety and comfortable posture even on a steeply inclining area or a rough terrain. SOLUTION: This wheelchair is provided with an inclination detecting means for detecting the inclining direction and angle of the surface of a traveling road, an actuator 8 for changing the inclining direction and angle of a seat with respect to the road surface and a controlling means 3 keeping the seat to be horizontal by operating the actuator 8 according to the output of the inclination detecting means. As the seat is kept nearly horizontal even when the road surface forms a steep slope, a wheelchair user is never in suspense.
