PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable printing of lowering the temperature of a release coil only in the case the release coil is heated by calculating the average driving number per unit time of a plurality of hammers, and interrupting the printing operation for a predetermined time in the case the average driving number exceeds a normal value. SOLUTION: A micro processor 100 reads out data from a RAM 150 successively before starting the printing operation for calculating the average value of the number of driving three adjacent printing hammers. In the case the average value exceeds a predetermined normal value in a unit time, the printing operation is interrupted. For example, if the unit time for calculating the driving number of the predetermined printing hammers is one second, the micro processor 100 starts a timer for one second before starting the printing operation so that in the case the average value exceeds the normal value before the timer stops, the printing operation is interrupted until the timer stops. At the time the timer stops, the data of all the addresses in the RAM 150 are rewritten to '0', and then, the timer is started for resuming the printing operation.
