PURPOSE: An automatic connecting method of image telephone is provided to minimize the error in modem connection between systems, thereby starting an image system by selecting a separate video key to enhance the convenience of user. CONSTITUTION: An automatic connecting method of image telephone comprises a first step transmitting the tone having a constant frequency from one side to counter site, a second step detecting the transmitted tone in the received site, and a third step performing image connection. In the second step, the response tone to the transmitted tone is transmitted to the counter site after detecting. In the third step, before the image connection, the response tone from the counter site is detected and the start point of the image communication is set.
