PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize a space above a holding device, which has been left formerly as it is without being effectively utilized. SOLUTION: Radial load applied to a lifting pipe 4 during pumping operation of a vertical shaft pump P is absorbed and vibration-controlled by elastic deformation of a vibration-control ring made of hard synthetic rubber, fitted in a first ring groove provided at a flange 25 of a holding device 20. Further, by the water-tight action of an O ring made of soft synthetic rubber, fitted in a second ring groove, water of a pump well 11 is prevented from entering a space 38 between the lowermost stage floor part 24 and a lower side floor part 9, namely a space above the lowermost stage floor part to enable the space 38 to be effectively utilized.
