PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elongate a service life of a high load transmitting V belt of a block type in which tensile belts are fitted to fitting grooves on side surfaces of blocks by suppressing biting of the blocks into a pulley groove while increasing a transmitting load of the belt, removing the blocks out of the pulley groove without requiring pulling-out of the tensile belts, and thereby preventing early breakage of the tensile belts. SOLUTION: A beam angle is at least 90 degrees, which angle is formed by vertical center line L of an upper side beam 13 and a pulley groove surface P1 of a block 7 on the pulley center side of a contact position of an upper side contact portion 11. Tensile stress or stress obtained by a little subtraction is applied to a root 13a of the upper side beam 13. A frictional coefficientμbetween each contact portion 11 of the block 7 and the pulley groove surface P1 is indicated by the following formula;μ<=tanθ+0.05, whereθis an angle formed by lateral side surfaces of a belt B and a vertical plane O.
