The furniture item (1) includes at least two panel sections (3-6) joined together at an angle, a first panel section being provided with a raised edge and a counter-edge running parallel to it, both of these edges engaging with opposite sides of a second panel section. A tensioning means is provided between the edge and counter-edge, so that the second panel section is clamped between these two edges. Independent claims are also included for (a) the extruded profiles forming the raised edge and counter-edge, and (b) a method for joining to panel sections together using the raised edge and counter-edge system.
