PURPOSE: A hydroxylation reaction process for the manufacture of alkylalkoxysilane is provided which is efficient in environment and cost aspects by its high selectivity and yield rate. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the addition of most unsaturated hydrocarbons to hydroalkoxysilane in excess of the stoichiometrically balanced amount in a reactor in the presence of an effective amount of a hydroxylation catalyst and an acid hydroxylation catalyst. The alkylalkoxysilane is RR1CHCH2Si(OR2)xR23-x, the unsaturated hydrocarbons are linear or branched terminal olefin RR1C=CH2 and the hydroalkoxysilane is HSi(OR2)xR23-x in which R is optionally a C1-16 mono valent hydrocarbon radical containing one or more aryl groups having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, R1 is H, C1-3 mono valent hydrocarbon radical or C6-10 aryl radical, R2 is a C1-3 mono valent hydrocarbon radical or C6-10 aryl radical, R,R1 and R2 can be changed in a reaction molecule, x is an integer of 1 to 3.
