<p>PURPOSE: A fuel tank and process for the production thereof is provided to install components to the fuel tank easily and maintain a precise distance between the upper end plate and the bottom in the fuel tank. CONSTITUTION: A plastic fuel tank is formed by welding together an upper plastic shell(1) having an upper end plate(8), and lower plastic shell(2) forming a bottom(7). The two plastic shells(1,2) are produced by the injection moulding process. To maintain a precise distance between the upper end plate and the bottom in the fuel tank, spacers(9) are provided which come into contact during welding. Installment of components to the fuel tank become easy because components are installed to their final position before the injection moulding.</p> |
