PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent jumping-out of a load placed on a load placing surface from a carrier by centrifugal force at the time when the carrier passes through a reversing route part. SOLUTION: This carrier device carries a book 30 along a carrier route having a reversing route part 4a. In this case, a load placing surface to place the book 30 is provided on a support member 17 of a carrier 5 free to move along the carrier route, the support member 17 is constituted free to oscillate along a horizontal position C and an inclined position A to incline to the inside of the reversing route part 4a, and a position change-over means 22 to change the support member 17 over to the inclined position A at the time when the carrier 5 passes through the reversing route part 4a is provided.
