PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet separation device having a simple configuration and capable of separating sheet bundles without scratching a sheet. SOLUTION: A pusher 2 attached to a portal bogie 9 consists of a first pushing out cylinder 33, a second pushing out cylinder 35 connected with the first pushing out cylinder 33, a sheet bundle pushing out plate 36 attached to the second pushing out cylinder 35, and a retainer plate 37 which is attached to the first pushing out cylinder 33 and is on a top face of stacked sheets 4. By pressing the top face of the stacked sheets 4 exposed on a rear side of a sheet bundle 5 pushed out partially by the first pushing out cylinder 33 by the retainer plate 37, the sheet bundles are fed onto a conveyor 6 by the second pushing out cylinder 35 and are separated by the pushing out operation only without lifting the sheet bundle 5.
