PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a jam without causing any damage in a postal object by arranging a rotational supporting shaft separating a gate roller below the gate roller and arranging an operation lever constructed of the rotational supporting shaft in the vicinity of a paper sheet separating mechanism. SOLUTION: A gate roller 37 is mounted to a gate roller base 45 installed around a rotational supporting shaft 39 freely rotationally. In the rotational supporting shaft 39, a torsion coil spring 44 is installed so as to load the gate roller 37 in the direction separating from a separation belt 30. An operation lever 40 is installed to a rotational supporting shaft 41. A cam follower 43 is installed to the gate roller base 45 so as to be pressed to a cam 42 by means of the torsion coil spring 44. When the operation lever 40 is operated in the arrow D direction, the cam 42 is rotated, and the gate roller base 45 is moved so that the gate roller 37 is separated from the separation belt 30, and consequently, the gate roller 37 is separated from the separation belt 30.
