PURPOSE: An apparatus for reproducing a digital signal is provided to record a signal of a high quality at a magnetic tape during a long time, and to be easy to be an additional record of data and an edition. CONSTITUTION: A reproducing part reproduces record data and expansion data from a second magnetic tape which has a wider width than a predetermined tape. The record data and the expansion data of the record data are recorded at the predetermined tape that a first magnetic tape has a width of the predetermined tape. The record data corresponds to a digital record format applied to the first magnetic tape. A record data processing part executes a data process of the record data reproduced by the reproducing part. An expansion data process part executes a data process of the expansion data produced by the reproducing part. The reproducing part continuously reproduces record data of at least two-track amount in the digital record format from one track formed at the second magnetic tape.
