PURPOSE: A method for renewing time information of a reception system in a broadcasting satellite is provided to renew the time information, when watching cable broadcasting. CONSTITUTION: A method for renewing time information of a reception system in a broadcasting satellite comprises the steps of: deciding whether a present channel is a cable broadcasting channel; deciding whether a signal for an OSD(On Screen Display) selection key is inputted, when the present channel is the cable broadcasting channel; storing channel information which a viewer is watching, when the signal is inputted, and operating to an OSD process mode; detecting the time information included in stream with packet units; renewing the time of a reception system in a broadcasting satellite, according to the detected time information; finishing the OSD process mode operation; tuning a channel corresponding to the stored channel information, and transitting to the channel on the way of watching.
