PURPOSE: An automatic selection method of optimum channels in a TV is provided to automatically convert into optimum receiving channels, when the same broadcasting programs are simultaneously received in a plurality of channels. CONSTITUTION: An automatic method of optimum channels in a TV comprises the steps of: storing line signals with predetermined numbers by digitally converting image signals, received to a present channel when a key for selecting an optimum channel is inputted, operating the average value of each pixel value of each line signal, storing the values as the level values of standard lines with the present channel information, detecting the envelop value of the present channel, and storing as the standard envelop value; digitally converting the image signals in order, received to other channels, and storing the predetermined line level values and the envelop value by detecting; comparing the standard line level values with the line levels of each channel, deciding as the same broadcasting when the line level values are the same, and storing with corresponding channel information; keeping the present channel when the same broadcasting with the present channel does not exist, and automatically converting into a channel having the biggest envelop value among the same broadcasting, when the same broadcasting exists.
