PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber capable of producing soft woven or knit goods, excellent in flexibility, heat resistance, in addition, swell feeling, soft feeling and repulsive feeling and having little dyeing specs by satisfying both a predetermined small-angle X-ray scattering and a shrinking stress/a structure- integrated parameter at the same time. SOLUTION: This soft polyester fiber satisfies both (i) expressing an X-pattern by a small angle X-ray scattering and (ii)0< (shrinking stress)/(a structure- integrated parameter) <=0.5 at the same time. Here, the structure-integrated parameter is >0, preferably 0.05-0.40. The soft polyester fiber has <=0.40 standard deviation of a shrinkage factor in boiling water in the longitudinal direction. It is preferable to prepare the soft polyester combined filament yarn by blending and interlacing the soft polyester fiber with a polyester fiber having >=10% shrinkage factor in boiling water and produce woven or knit goods by using the soft polyester fiber.
