PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snap ring to be fitted at the inside surface of a cylindrical casing of such a structure as capable of holding fast the snap ring in a constant position inside the casing to sturdily secure an apparatus (component) to be installed in the casing by applying a pressing force thereto. SOLUTION: This snap ring consists of a ring member 11 in C-form having a cutout part 12 to be fitted at the inside surface of a cylindrical casing, wherein a projection 15 capable of being fitted in a groove formed on the casing side is provided on the outside surface on the counter-cutout part of the ring member 11, and a plate piece 16 is provided protruding to the front (rear) surface side of the ring member 11. The shape of ring member 11 viewed from the side assumes a bow convex to the projecting side of the plate piece 16, and thereby the snap ring when it is set in compression exerts a spring effect to give a pressing force in the direction of the plate piece, and it is possible to hold fast the snap ring in a constant position with respect to the casing and components.
