PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhaust documents more stably without reinforcing the document conveying force, even when the document conveying load is large to the document conveying force. SOLUTION: A pulse signal from an encoder sensor 343 is counted by a size counter provided to a RAM 90, during the time from the time that the front end of a document is detected by a resist sensor 313 to the time that the rear end of the document is detected. And when the counting value of the size counter is smaller than a preset value, the concerned document is exhausted without stopping on the way of a conveying path.
