PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-recording apparatus with which a pixel position by coloring material particles is autonomously controlled highly accurately, no image deterioration takes place, and image defects because of a coloring material particle feed failure are not brought about. SOLUTION: The image-forming apparatus includes an image carrier 2 to a surface of which an image by coloring material particles 1 is formed and which has a coloring material particle adhesion region of a smaller area than a unit pixel region within the unit pixel region, an image signal input means 3, a coloring material particle feed means 4 and a transfer means 10. The coloring material particle feed means 4 carries out a sequence of feeding and removing coloring material particles for a plurality of number of times (means 4-1 to 4-3) with using coloring material particle-dropping feeding devices 4c, 4d for dropping to feed the coloring material particles 1 to the surface of the image carrier 2 and a particle layer-removing device 4h for removing excessive coloring material particles 1 among the coloring material particles 1 supplied to the surface of the image carrier 2.
