PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner equipped with enhanced easi ness to manipulate while stability when out of service is well secured. SOLUTION: An electric vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor-drivem blower 2 to suck the external air and a cleaner body 4 furnished internall y with a dust collecting chamber 3 to store the dust contained in the sucked external air, wherein a suction mouth 5 in communication and connection with the chamber 3 is coupled with one end of the body 4, while a manipulating handle 6 is coupled with the other end of the body 4. A support 10 supported swingably about the rear surface as the center of swings is installed on the rear surface of the body 4 and interposed between the floor surface G and the rear surface of the body 4 at the time out of service when the suction mouth 5 is positioned upright in contacting with the floor surface to support the body 4 in the non-tumbling condition.
