PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To turn off an on/off switch in removing a stick and improve usability by providing the detachable stick to the top of a vacuum cleaner body and providing the on/off switch for actuating a motor in such a state as also used as an attaching/detaching switch for attaching/detaching the stick. SOLUTION: A stick 3 is detachably provided on the top of a cleaner body 1 and a hand switch is provided in a grip in the other side of the stick 3. The hand switch is turned on so that a motor incorporated in the cleaner body 1 is actuated to catch dust sucked from a floor nozzle in a paper bag attached to a dust collecting chamber of the cleaner body 1. In this case, a SW lever 6 which is provided in the cleaner body 1 is connected to the hand switch via a connecting rod 11. In removing the stick 3, the hand switch 5 is set to the OFF position, a SW guide 13 is returned to the OFF position by a spring 12 via the connecting rod 11, the push-in of the track switch 14 is released, and the operation of the motor is stopped.
