PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sustained release drug for ophthalmology excellent in biodegradability and safety in the eye by using hyaluronic acid or a crosslinking product or its salt as a base and a method for producing it. SOLUTION: This sustained release drug for ophthalmology is obtained by mixing a prescribed drug for ophthalmology with hyaluronic acid having (40-180)×104 weight-average molecular weight or its salt and an epoxy compound expressed by following structural formula (n) is 0 or 1} and crosslinking the hyaluronic acid or its salt with an epoxy compound by heating, and carrying the drug for ophthalmology to the resultant crosslinked product.
