PURPOSE: An image projection system is provided to realize a high contrast in an image projection system by using a diffusion type LCD panel. CONSTITUTION: An image projection system comprises an illumination system(3) having alight source for providing an illumination beam. The image production system(1) comprises a modulation system(11) having one more reflective image display panel(13,15,17) to modulate a light beam according to a projected image data and a projection lens system(12) to project the image data. A color-separating system(19) is arranged between the modulation system and the illumination system. A polarizing beam splitter(9) is arranged between the color-separating system and the illumination system.
