OPTICAL ANISOTROPIC FILM, PRODUCTION PROCESS THEREOF AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: An anisotropic film is provided which is reactive to temperature-dependence onδnxd, retardation of liquid crystal display retardation, and keeps temperature-dependence on optical retardation wherein the change of retardation is almost absent by liquid crystal compounds as time passes by. CONSTITUTION: The anisotropic film is produced from compounds including at least polymers and liquid crystal compounds on the following conditions of: (a) the retardation of transparent or semitransparent film measured toward normal direction at 80°C is 20-97% of that at 30°C; (b) the retardation of film measured at 60°C is 20-99% of that at 30°C; and (c) the retardation at 0°C is 101-150% of that at 30°C. Absolute values in the retardation change by the liquid crystal compounds is not more than 6% in case that the anisotropic film is maintained for 200 hours at 30°C and the retardation is measured at 546nm wavelength.
