PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for producing atmosphere of karaoke system is provided to produce an atmosphere having a realism by suitably controlling a lighting equipment or the rest peripheral effect equipment based upon a predetermined programming when MIDI(Music Instrument Digital Interface) data is reproduced. CONSTITUTION: An MIDI data storage medium(11) stores MIDI data of an input/output instruction of electronic music instruments. A chorus data storage medium(12) stores a chorus data for inserting chord into a song. An atmosphere control pattern storage pattern(13) stores control pattern data of each device for producing atmosphere having a realism. A micro controller(14) reads the corresponding data stored in the MIDI data storage medium(11) and the chorus data storage medium(12) provides the read data to a sound source module(14). An on-screen unit(16) processes the information as to lyric lines according to the micro controller(14). An atmosphere producing controller(17) controls an operation of each lighting equipment or a peripheral equipment and reproduces the atmosphere having a realism.
