PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inhibitor excellent in safety, having an excellent elastase inhibiting activity and effective in improving elasticity and tensity of skin by including a plant, etc., such as Zingiberis Rhizoma as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This inhibitor is obtained by including a plant selected from Zingiberis Rhizoma, a hydrolyzed almond (a mixture obtained by hydrolyzing a seed of Prunus amygdalus Batsch), a root or a rhizome of Sanguisorba officinalis L. of the family Rosaceae, Caryophylli Flos, Rosea Fructus, a terrestrial part of Craegus oxyacantha L. of the family Rosaceae and a leaf, bark and the xylem of Betula alba L. of the family Butulaceae or an extract thereof, a steam distillate or a pressed substance thereof as an active ingredient. The above plant extract is preferably capable of manifesting >=25% inhibiting activity at <=5% concentration expressed in terms of an evaporation residue in an enzyme activity measurement system using N-succinyl-Ala-Ala-Ala-p- nitroanilide as a substrate. The plant extract is prepared by extracting, e.g. a pulverized substance of the plant with a solvent at normal temperature or under heating. |
